In achieving success, there are two main ingredients:
- You must really know what you want. So start asking yourself what you really want.
- Change the way you think to change your life. Whatever you believe to be so, you are proven to be right!
Shockingly what I thought I really wanted was not what I really wanted. I accidentally realized it two years ago.
As far as I know, I’ve been fond of eating delicious food… baby back ribs, beef steaks, roast lamb chops, yakiniku, crabs, raw oysters. But all of that food comes with a price: fat and high colesterol. I didn’t care about it. I thougth eating delicious food is how I enjoyed my life.
Then one day, I met a stranger and we got into casual conversation. Somehow he mentioned he didn’t eat meat and seafood. I was surprised and blurted unconsciously, “How do you enjoy life if you don’t eat meat and seafood?” He calmly answered, “For me, be able to watch my grandchildren is enjoying life. To be able to live long, healthy and happy with my family is enjoying life.”
Slap!
His answer hit me and made me realize how wrong I was. It was a great reflection from a stranger, wasn’t it? Hence I started to change my diet. I ate only healthy food and avoided all of those “dangerous” food. But it didn’t last long. After about a month, I resumed to my old habit. Eating “bad” food again.
Until finally I came across a good diet book, Living The G.I. Diet. There was a sentence in this book that changed the way I think, “It’s not a diet. It’s a life style.”
So in my own simple example, my two ingredients are:
- I really want to live long happily and healthily with my family and be able to watch and play with my grandchildren. It’s still long way to go since my son is still 16-month old!
- I change the way I think about food. It’s not a diet. It’s my healthy life style.
I hope that enlighten you with my own experience.
What’s yours? Come on, share yours so that we can motivate each other

When there are many sick people around, I tell myself that I will remain healthy because I have a strong immune system. It works.
