Help! I Can’t Visualize!

I realize there are many people, you may be one of them, who say they can’t visualize. They feel anxious if they’re asked to visualize.

“I can’t visualize…” they cry desperately. “I just can’t see or imagine things…”

I understand. I was like that too. I just didn’t understand what visualization is all about. The truth is, everyone can visualize. You want the proof?

Has your spouse, your parents, or your child ever come late? And you just couldn’t contact them at that time? Were you worried? Felt a bit tense? Sweat a little?

If you felt any of those anxieties then, my friend, you visualized at that time. You can visualize!

“No, I don’t believe it!” They argued. “I just felt a bit discomfort that time.”

Well, don’t you feel discomfort because you imagined something bad happen to your spouse, parents or child who came late and couldn’t be contacted? Isn’t imagination the same as visualization?

You just didn’t realize that you visualized :)

Still not convinced that you can visualize?

Let’s do this simple visualization exercise then.

Close your eyes. Now think about a big yellow lemon. You take it out from your fridge. It feels cold. Peel the lemon. Hmm… Its juice squirts on your hand. Taste the peeled lemon with your tongue. What does it taste? Yuck, very sour.

Do you feel your saliva in your mouth? It tastes sour? How come? It’s only in your imagination. You don’t even actually taste it.

That’s, my friend, the power of visualization! And you just did one of visualization techniques, internalizing. It means seeing images in your mind’s eye.

Yes, visualisation is not an easy thing to achieve. People often forget that it takes concentration. And to develop concentration, we need persistence, as you already pointed out in you previous posts.

Keep at it and it WILL work.

    Hey Aldian,

You are quite right, everyone can visualize. It’s only a matter of how proficient we are at doing it :)

    Cheers
    James

    Hi Olivier,

Visualization is actually easy to do (most of the time we visualize things we don’t want or don’t like).

The correct visualization is not easy to achieve :)

    Hi James,

Very true. It takes practice to be able to visualize correctly and proficiently.

I practicing so that I can visualize right away if I do my anchoring signal :)

i THINK YOU ARE WRONG.. IF YOU CHECK OUR THOSE WHO MAY BE POOR READERS OR THOSE WHO DON’T LIKE TO READ, IT IS BECAUSE THEY GET TIRED WHEN THE READ BECAUE THEIR BRAIN IS TRYING TO VISUALIZE AND IT CAN’T WHICH OVER TAXES TEH BRAIN CAUSING FATIGE. i ALSO BELIEVE THAT IF YOU CAN NOT VISUALIZE THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO TURN IT ON. THERE ARE MANY INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN VISULIZE WHO ARE UNAWARE THEY CAN AND CERTAINLY THEY CAN BE HELPED TO BECAME AWARE OF THIS WONDERFUL GIFT.

Thanks for this site. I truly believe in The Secret. What a wonderful world we would leave our grandkids if everyone in the world would start out their day being totally grateful for everything in their lives. Unfortunately I tried the Lemon exercise & It didn’t work. I may be the only person in the world that can’t visualize. My problem goes deeper than that. When I dream I see nothing. I call it blind dreaming. How can I apply the Secret without Visualization? I tried to find out more about my problem on Web MD with no luck. If there in anything you can suggest to help me. let me know.
    Take Care,
    Marsha

even following your prescription for visualizing the lemon etc. did not help. I am convinced some , like myself can not visualize. Honestly , I believe my muscles have better memory and ability than my mind. I can pick up a dance or physical skill much easier than I can use my brain and either converse or even reason .I believe it’s just how God wired me.

You are absolutely wrong in associating visualization with imagining. A lot of people are capable of imagining sensory input, such as taste or emotion, but that is NOT VISUALIZATION. Visualization IS “VISUALIZING”. That word has a specific meaning. It means TO SEE!! Not TO FEEL or TO PRETEND or TO WISH. And it is a critical component in manifesting. I believe your intent to help people may be sincere, but your advice is fundamentally inaccurate.

I cant visualize things when i close my eyes. like my friends say that they can but nomater how hard i try i cant. I found a web site about this and it says that about ten percent of people canot visualize things with their eyes closed. The only way i can is to smoke alot of weed. if you cant visualize things like me than you should try smoking weed so you can see what it is like.

I have to disagree. I have been unable to mentally visualize my entire life. I can “know” something without seeing it at all in my mind. I mentally know what a lemon looks/tastes like, but if I close my eyes I cannot mentally envision a lemon at all.

I can not visualize on demand. However I do occasionally see a picture in my mind, but I can neither create or control it and in fact, as soon as I try to focus on it, the image disappears. When I try to visualize on demand, I see nothing. I agree with many of the posts, feeling and imagining is not the same as visualizing.

To assume everyone is wired the same way seems presumptuous. I’ve never been able to visualize images in my mind, and some people can not stop to the point it is a disability. Some people can visualize numbers as shapes, allowing them to “see” mathematics in their mind.

Your post makes me angry. This arrogant “everyone is just like me, and if their not, they just need to learn!” is so patronizing I could spit! Now thats out of the way, let me argue the semantics of “conceptualize” vs “visualize”. I can conceptualize your lemon, I can feel it, sense it. I just can’t “see it”. I have no minds eye, and you know what? I don’t care. Seriously, is this what you say to people born blind? “the truth is, everyone can visualize.” No, not everyone can “picture things in their head”.
